The Aficionados

A wonderful world of hotels, design and travel culture

THE AFICIONADOS is an eclectic community bound by creativity, design, and style, with over 100 hotels, guesthouses, and private estates for those seeking a stay beyond the ordinary in places owned by mavericks, artists, architects, life-changers, designers, and families alike.

They dared to dream a little differently, opting to write their own rule book, whether it be a new build, a conversation or an heirloom castle. No singular place defines us rather like a family, the places are siblings of style but never the same.

They are not everywhere, and that makes them shine in the world of mundanity and chains. They keep their company tightly knit to a curated edit of select member hotels that make their way to THE AFICIONADOS online publication and treasured, limited-edition magazines that follow evocative themes, from Eclectic Rebels to Unwaxed Lemons.

Within the coveted collection, former convents, factories, bakeries, palaces, and the odd farmhouse are peppered with new, bold architectural concepts and restoration projects that took years to realise—an alchemy of uniqueness that Iain and the team relish.

THE AFICIONADOS believe that true luxury is found in the thoughtful twists and spontaneous idiosyncrasies that come from each host’s way of life, and their natural surroundings. From looks of weathered chic and easeful simplicity to high-drama accents, no stay is the same – and that’s exactly how the team likes it.
