Walking through the old streets of Copenhagen, history unveils its beauty and value with its mere presence. Engrossed in the history, a white building with round arches and ornamented details enthroned itself in a graceful way. Here, Ruby Atelier, a gallery specialising in original vintage furniture, unique objects, and contemporary fine art, invites you to their unique soulful space.
Every piece in the gallery is unique and carefully selected by founders Mark Weincke and Funda Christophersen. Created out of pure passion, Ruby Atelier seeks to explore and find pieces that resonate with them and their style. This continues to be the force that drives them: “We are always curious and seeking to find extraordinary pieces of art and furniture. That’s what drives us and keeps our fire going. We are driven by our passions and by what we feel works and goes together. The pieces you will find here are a natural consequence of what we are drawn to.”
Ruby Atelier was founded in 2017 and moved to the current location at Amaliegade 6 in the centre of Copenhagen in 2021. Situated in Frederiksstaden, an old city quarter established in 1749, the gallery immerses itself in the rich history of the Danish Capital. The buildings are characterised by a Rococo aesthetics with ornamented details – light, elegant, gracious, and defined. The gallery embraces its history, highlighting the old details and emphasising quality materials used throughout the space. This authenticity is essential to them.
To this day, the founders see Ruby Atelier as a journey they are on, exploring every bit of the brand and themselves. “We never dreamt of becoming gallery owners. It’s just how life and circumstances shaped it for us. But when we look back, it all makes sense why we ended up here, why we are where we are. Our goal is to continue following our passion, doing what we love. Of course, expanding and becoming a more established internationally renowned brand in the field is something we hope will become our future, but to us, success is to keep doing what we love and continue to be curious and explore how we can evolve. To learn more about ourselves and cultivate who we are. To us, that would be enough.”
