Published in 2014, Openhouse magazine’s inaugural edition was conceived with the guiding principle: “The Life we Share.”

This slogan encapsulates the essence of what Andrew Trotter and Mari Luz Vidal, the magazine’s founders, were living at the time within their own Barcelona apartment which was opened to anyone seeking to partake in the diverse cultural activities they curated.

Thus, for Openhouse, well before evolving into a publication, the concept of sharing extends beyond the literal act—it encompasses a social meaning intricately tied to physical and communal engagement.

With the aim of delving into the concept of shared life, we made an intervention into Side Gallery by the hands of Charlotte Taylor, who designed one life-shared-home where the visitors might reflect into public and private space, professional and intimate space as the once-distinct boundaries between these facets have long been blurred in the creative field.

We would not only delved into the act of sharing by dressing Side Gallery but navigated these evolving dynamics by having a conversation with inspiring artists with a lot to tell regarding the subject: Ileana Moro and Marius Ritiu, sentimental couple of artists hailing from Antwerp. Tyra and Lucas Morten, artists and recently married couple working together at Morten Atelier in Sweden. James Plumb, a London-based project led by the couple Hannah Plumb and James Russell, who became family with the addition of their child, Walter. Later, we shared a delightful dinner by Tiberi Club at Vasto Gallery.

Last but not least, we shared with our audience the joy of arriving at our 20th edition. We are so grateful for the support and the love we received from photographers, writers, translators, designers, readers, brands and creative people who opened their houses and private spaces to us in a very generous way over the years. Openhouse is what it is today thanks to you all.
