Bracket Series by FRAMA

An ode to traditional carpentry

In a world where us individuals are constantly trying to innovate and to come up with the most distinctive ideas, we often forget to appreciate the simplicity of things. Absorbed by the mission to achieve uniqueness, we lose ourselves in this quest for complexity and forget that, sometimes, nothing works better than basic functionality. And this is exactly the motivation behind the Bracket Series, the new furniture collection designed in 2021 by FRAMA, in collaboration with the Copenhagen-based design studio Frederik Gustav

The Bracket Series consists of three designs: a chair, a bench and two shelves (small or large), all fabricated in solid oiled pine and available in two finishes, either warm brown or white. The design of the three elements enhances the beautiful rawness of the material used, creating a familiar warmth through the natural color of the pine wood -inspired by traditional carpentry.

The naturalness with which the Bracket series is endowed allows the observer to admire the pure geometric shapes -which is an essential part of FRAMA’s designs- and how this simple geometry generates a certain sensuality. Precisely, the main objective behind this collection is to ensure functionality. Through the use of the bracket, which is a strictly practical component, the aim was to transform it into an aesthetic feature or, in the words of Frederik Gustav, “into a beautiful feature”, therefore making the bracket the star of the show.

This collection is the second collaborative project between FRAMA and Frederik Gustav, a fact that illustrates the clear convergence between their design principles. Combining FRAMA’s emphasis on raw materials, simple geometries and long-lasting quality, with Frederik Gustav’s passion for wood and craftsmanship, the end result never seems to disappoint. In this occasion, they have worked together to design a collection that has resulted from the intersection of old artisanship with functional aesthetics, and that is meant to appreciate natural materials and simple mechanics.

The motivation behind this series goes hand in hand with Frederik Gustav’s essence. The design studio is run by the danish duo Frederik Weber and Gustav Dupont, and it is notable for its practical experimentation, which is a tribute to construction and artisanship. Designed with an evident inspiration in traditional carpentry and with environmental responsibility in mind, the Bracket Series displays a long-lasting connection between humans and nature.

This collection is an accurate representation of FRAMA’s philosophy, which always advocates for prioritizing practicality, that is, creating products that are compatible with a mindful daily lifestyle, with a long-lasting durability through the use of sustainably sourced and untreated elements. In this sense, FRAMA solves the dilemma by choosing durable material quality over a wide material palette. The products offered by the brand are easily adaptable through time, partly because of this combinable and simple color palette, as well as their utilitarian and timeless designs.

Whether it is lifestyle objects and homewares, interior architecture and design solutions, furniture and lighting, or scents and skincare, in all its disciplines, FRAMA fabricates its products by using inspiration from four primary experiences: travel, nature, spaces and stories. In this way, and through small-scale manufacturing, the brand aims to promote a reflective, caring and self-care lifestyle.

The Bracket Series is an example of this philosophy, by putting the focus on a carefully assembled bracket, the designs consequently generate an instinctive excursion where the human eye follows the natural lines of the geometric shapes, enhancing the beauty of an untouched pine wood.
