Brand Story for Teixidors

We began in 1983, building the first wooden looms that would weave our community together. Since then, the Teixidors cooperative has created exceptional products from the best raw materials, following an entirely manual process. “Teixir” in Catalan means to weave, and woven into our daily labour is a strong commitment to our social vocation.

The community is at the heart of the project, which aims to improve the economic independence and social integration for people with learning difficulties. We create a space where people are able to flourish, and lives are transformed through the development of talents and skills.

The tradition of artisan work lays the foundation of Teixidors. Every morning when the doors of our workshop are opened, the commitment to join together our design processes with tradition is renewed. We understand the word ‘design’ in a sense that includes both a way of developing and thinking about technique, with the materials and processes of creation.

We use classic wool looms, threading the best natural fibres such as Merino wool, cashmere, and linen, whose origin we know intimately. We weave sustainable and environmentally friendly raw materials, so each thread tells the true story of the life that contributed to the creation of our products.

The Teixidors project is a reality whose philosophy emphasizes authenticity, uniqueness and beauty of unique fabrics. We understand sustainability as more than just an environmental concern, for us it is a global concept that ranges from equal treatment and social integration of people, to a responsible consumerism.
