Coco Dávez & Coordonné

When Color Becomes Home

Recently, I’ve found myself gravitating toward colorful interiors—homes that stand out for their unique character and aren’t afraid to be distinct. In a world where neutral palettes have become increasingly predominant in modern design, mixed patterns, bright hues, and playful details are reemerging as fresh, lighthearted choices that make the home feel both entertaining and joyful.

Coordonné, the family business founded in 1978 by Carmen López de Lamadrid, has dedicated its journey to bringing emotion and life into spaces. Based in Barcelona, the brand is known for its versatility, offering a wide range of designs that span wallpapers, fabrics, paints, and home products. From signature lines to classic-contemporary, essential, and collaborative collections, all share one defining quality: timelessness.

In another chapter where it reaffirms its fearless attitude, Coordonné has partnered with Valeria Palmeiro, better known as Coco Dávez, the artist whose colorful universe continues to inspire some of today’s most prominent brands. Developing her career across painting, photography, mentoring, and art direction, Coco Dávez joins forces with Coordonné to bring vitality and optimism into spaces.

This collaboration has materialized as ColortheraPills, a collection featuring ten designs in six color capsules. “This collection is the perfect opportunity to reach out to all those who have the courage to embrace attention rather than shy away from it,” explains the Coordonné team. “It has taught us to have the courage to combine ranges that initially seemed risky but have turned out to be an exquisite pairing,” they point out.

Coordonné first collaborated with Coco for the brand’s 40th anniversary in 2019, when they launched a collection featuring 40 artists, and were left wanting more. “We gravitated toward her freshness, her simple lines, and the way she works with color,” they point out. Meeting her in person, the brand was captivated by Coco’s vibrant character, leaving it infused with her positivity and her passion for beauty and difference.

The result is precisely that: a collection where pleasure, joy, and liveliness become integrated experiences of everyday life—experiences conveyed through color.

Working closely with artists one admires can be a deeply enriching experience, sparking the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and even emotions. “This collaboration has recharged our batteries and brought us closer to pop and funky scenes,” they say. For its part, Coordonné was able to share its expertise in the world of interior design—and, more importantly, its curated sense of harmony, which makes it possible to create designs at the right scale and rhythm for people to enjoy on the wall every day.

Inspired by her travels and her memories, Coco features in ColortheraPills motifs she associates with good vibes: abundant nature, fantastical animals, bucolic leisure landscapes… From the very first moment, the brand wanted the artist to make the collection her own from a very personal perspective, selecting illustrations beyond her best-known works. In other words, “it was important to us that she enjoyed our collaboration and reflected an overflowing, energetic aura.”

The result is precisely that: a collection where pleasure, joy, and liveliness become integrated experiences of everyday life—experiences conveyed through color: “Color is truly the backbone of the entire collection.” When integrated thoughtfully into a space, color has been shown to be both therapeutic and stimulating, and through Coco’s fearless creativity, it is used not only to bring a room to life but to evoke happiness in all its forms.

“Working closely with artists one admires can be a deeply enriching experience, sparking the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and even emotions.”

The collection is made up of six bold families: Midnight Cobalt, Golden Nap, Deep Noir, Dawn Blue, Lollipop Pin, and Kumquat Tree. With harmony and beauty, the ten designs are born from these palettes, creating surprising polychromies in whimsical compositions. Overall, ColortheraPills reads almost as a visual diary of Coco Dávez—a vibrant artist captivated by the energy of color in nature and in her overflowing imagination.
